A new iPhone app will help people offset tailpipe carbon emissions in real-time

Apps like this one claim to be the only ones that track vehicle carbon emissions in real time, while also analysing driving habits and providing advice based on actual driving data.

In order to provide a precise assessment of your driving, the app relies on data from the DVLA and is specifically designed for drivers with internal combustion engines.

In 2021, the Vauxhall Corsa will be the best-selling car in the United Kingdom. Based on an annual mileage of 6,000 miles, it would only cost £3.95 per month to offset 100% of emissions. Even if you increased the annual mileage to 12,000, the monthly payment would only go up to £7.91.

Even if you had a Range Rover Sport, it would cost you just over £34 per month to cover up to 20,000 miles.

You may be wondering what all this “offsetting” is all about, but carbon offsets are solutions that help reduce carbon emissions. They represent a simple but effective way of using re-forestation and renewable energy projects to absorb the equivalent carbon dioxide that your car emits.

Drive Key Corporation CEO Calin Saftoiu said, “We are absolutely thrilled to launch Karai today, after two years of planning, data analysis and testing.”

In the beginning, we want to help drivers reduce their emissions as much as possible, and Karai’s suggestions for more efficient driving techniques can achieve this by as much as 25%. Our goal for the app is to help Karai users develop good driving habits, similar to how a fitness app helps people form healthy habits.
