Apple has seeded developers with iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 beta 3

Apple has today seeded the third betas of the future iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 updates to developers for the purposes of testing. The updates come two weeks after Apple published the second developer beta for testing purposes.

Registered developers can download the iOS and iPadOS 16 betas through the Apple Developer Center. The early beta of iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 may include flaws, so it’s advisable to install them on a second device for testing purposes.

Widgets, a redesigned notification system, and customizable fonts and colors for the time are all part of iOS 16’s revised Lock Screen interface. Multiple lock screens are supported, similar to watch faces, and can be linked to different focus modes.

It’s now quicker and more configurable than ever to set up Focus, and you can even use Focus filters to exclude distracting items from within apps. Editing iMessages, deleting iMessages, and marking messages as unread are all now available in the Messages app. It also allows SharePlay, much like FaceTime.

Mail’s search and features have been updated, and you can now undo sending an email or schedule it for later, as well as set up a follow-up notification if you haven’t heard back from it. Apple is trying to replace passwords with Passkeys, a biometrically secure way to log in to accounts, which is supported by Safari and Shared Tab Groups.

Apple’s iCloud Photo Library makes it easier to share photos with loved ones, and Live Text is available in video. Visual Lookup is a useful new function for quickly removing a topic from a background image with a single press.

This year’s iOS 12 brings a host of new features, including better dictation capabilities, multi-stop routing in Maps, Apple Pay Later, and a new look for the Home app. In addition to the new Stage Manager feature on the iPad, the update provides support for more Mac-like multitasking on M1 iPads.

There are a slew of other enhancements in iOS 16 and iPadOS 16, which we’ve detailed in-depth in this roundup.
