Apple is planning to add advertisements to further iPhone apps

In an effort to increase income, Apple may extend its advertising to more of its first-party iPhone apps, according to Bloomberg.

The report states that although the company’s ad division brings in roughly $4 billion annually, it intends to increase its share into “double digits.”

In some apps, like Apple News and Stocks, Apple already includes advertisements. Additionally, it recently disclosed plans to increase app store advertising. According to Bloomberg, the company is thinking about how to incorporate advertising into Apple Maps, for instance, which has thus far distinguished itself from Google Maps, its rival, by not displaying advertisements. According to the article, it’s “probable” that Apple will also include advertisements in its shops for books and podcasts.

There was no quick way to reach an Apple spokesman for comment.

Apple has also targeted other businesses that advertise to iPhone consumers.

Apple updated iPhones last year with a new popup asking users if they wanted to allow apps on their phones to target them for advertisements. The App Tracking Transparency privacy feature has completely changed the workings of many mobile advertising campaigns, especially those that verify if a transaction or download was made. It’s obvious that the majority of iPhone users chose not to use the function, and businesses like Snap, Facebook, and Peloton have faced significant difficulties as a result.

Apple might be able to get more value from its iPhone customers thanks to the new ads.

Needham analysts stated in a report dated August 3 that they think advertising will be Apple’s next significant source of income.

They claimed that “AAPL has best-in-class user data.” “AAPL can manage how and where its data is used and can stop data leaking outside its walled garden if it constructs a DSP (demand-side platform).”

The experts added that they think Apple is just starting to develop a new mobile advertising platform. According to them, there has been a “notable rise” in the company’s recruitment efforts for its Ad Platform, and it was well-represented at the Cannes Lions advertising festival in June.

According to CEO Tim Cook and CFO Luca Maestri on Apple’s most recent earnings call, the company’s advertisement business has had some issues with COVID, but Cook called it a “fantastic” discovery tool for app developers who want to market their products.

According to Bernstein analysts, Apple’s services division, which is mostly supported by advertising and the App Store, has experienced a slowdown in growth for four straight quarters as a result of a change in consumer purchasing patterns.

The increased ad loads in the App Store, they claimed, will cause Apple’s ad revenue to expand.

In general, they stated, “We believe that over the next few years, Apple’s total advertising section is attainable at least 20% growth.”
