Apple Silicon integration support has been added to the beta version of OBS Studio

Streaming service with live content OBS has made the announcement that the OBS Studio 28 beta is now compatible with Apple Silicon Macs.

The current beta of OBS, OBS Studio 28.0, can run natively on Macs with M1 and M2 CPUs, but the complete edition of OBS is only compatible with Intel-based Macs.

According to the beta release notes, which were discovered by 9to5Mac, in order for third-party plugins to work with Apple Silicon copies of OBS, such plugins will need to release Apple Silicon versions.

This beta’s list of new features includes Apple VT encoder improvements, screen capture kit support for macOS 12.5 and higher, and recording splitting by time or file size.

The UI framework has also been improved to Qt6, according to the developers. These updates remove support for OS X 10.13, macOS 10.14, and Ubuntu 18.04 (or any other 32-bit operating system) from OBS.
