Apple Store is offline due to ‘updates’

The Apple Store is currently unavailable in the United States and most of the rest of the world.

Apple’s online store is currently displaying the familiar “We’ll be right back” notice and the announcement that “updates are coming to the online Apple Store.” The Store, oddly enough, isn’t down everywhere at the same time.

This message is currently displayed in the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, and major European countries. Store operations continue as usual in China, Japan, and New Zealand.

Pre-order releases for Apple products have not been announced. It’s possible that Apple will make an unannounced addition, but given that the Store is not down worldwide, it’s unlikely.

In the US Apple Store, there are some products that are not available elsewhere, such as certain accessory sets. If it’s not a maintenance issue, then Apple is almost certainly preparing to reveal some sort of marketing campaign.

Until Monday, August 1, 2022, Apple is running a promotion in China that offers rare discounts on a wide range of products.
