Apple TV hardware now supports 5.1 audio on YouTube TV

Google’s YouTube TV app received an update that brings 5.1 audio support to both Fire TV and Apple TV hardware.

The video streaming service just tweeted about the improvement. The 5.1 support is also available for “suitable YouTube TV material,” which includes on-demand, live, and DVR programs.

Since their debut, many smart televisions have offered this capability, including those from Vizio, LG, and Samsung. In June 2022, streaming gear such as Google TV and Android TV hardware was included.

Of course, the material needs to be 5.1 audio blended. Additionally, a compatible stereo system needs to be attached.

The platform’s frequently asked questions have not yet been changed to reflect the new support.
