New models are regularly released by the tech giant, and as technology advances, older models cease to function for a variety of reasons. Security is one of these reasons.

Apple has confirmed that the models are between five and seven years old in its message to its customers. The complete list includes the iPhone 4 (8GB) and iPhone 4S, as well as the iPhone 5, as well as the iPhone 5C and the iPhone 6 Plus.

Customers of Apple products can get service and replacement parts from Apple service providers such as Apple retail stores and independent repair providers for a minimum of five years after the product was last distributed for sale, according to Apple.

Depending on the availability of parts, service and parts may be available for an additional period of time as required by law, or for a maximum of seven years.
