1. Perception Pescador 12 | Sit on Top Fishing Kayak with Front Storage Well | Large Rear Storage and Dual Rod Holders | 12′
Specification
- Seating Capacity: 1
- Brand: Perception Kayaks
- Item Weight: 64 Pounds
- Color: DAPPER
- Style: Pescador 12.0
- Material: Polyethylene
There is no need to introduce Perception Kayaks. Since over forty years ago, they have been manufacturing some of the best kayaks on the market. The Pescador 12 is the Perception kayak that fits our budget of under $700. There is no doubt that Perception’s Pescador series is the best-selling fishing kayak series in the industry, and they deserve all the accolades that they receive. There are two types of Pescador kayaks: the Pescador Pro and Pescador Pilot. The Pescador Pro and Pilot are more advanced versions of the basic Pescador kayak. Several sizes of the basic configuration are available, including 10, 12, and 13 feet. A tandem kayak, the 13-foot Pescador would have been perfect for this list, but it is just above our $700 threshold.
There is one noteworthy point about both Pescador Pro and Pescador Pilot: they can only be found in 12 feet sizes. In terms of the kayak we’ve chosen, the Perception Pescador 12, it’s a sit-on-top kayak made from durable polyethylene. There are 32″ of width and 64 pounds of weight to it. In most entry-level to intermediate kayaks, polyethylene is the material of choice. High impact resistance and durability make it an excellent choice. Although most polyethylene kayaks do not have smooth finishes, I am impressed with Pescador’s.
There is a large hatch at the front of the boat that is not watertight for storage. Water-sensitive belongings should be placed in plastic bags to safeguard them. Our middle bottle holder is a standard design. There is a bungee corded storage area at the rear as well. It’s a good place to place your crates or coolers. Your camping gear can also be placed here, but it will be exposed to splashes from the water. This area, however, does have scupper holes to keep the water flowing.
Combined with a weight capacity of 375 lbs, we give Pescador 12 a big tick for storage. Even though we can criticize the front latch for not being watertight, we can work around it. According to its performance, Perception Pescador exhibits a relatively wide and flat hull design, which allows it to be quite stable. It is almost impossible to handle choppy waters because it doesn’t have much rocker or a streamlined finish.
Therefore, it is best for calm lakes, ponds, and slow-moving rivers, but not for mainstream rivers or oceans. Pescador 12 comes with only two flush-mounted rod holders at the back of the seat, making it unsuitable for fishing. You can mount your fish finder and other rod holders on the two gear tracks on either side of the kayak. You’d have to pay more for that, but you’d have a lot more flexibility.

2. Perception Sound 10.5 | Sit Inside Kayak for Fishing and Fun | Two Rod Holders | Large Rear Storage | 10′ 6″
Specification

- Brand: Perception Kayaks
- Color: Moss Camo
- Style: Sound 10.5
- Item Weight: 46 Pounds
A sit-in kayak is the next entry on our list of best fishing kayaks under $700. A sit-in kayak is generally considered to be more stable and easier to maneuver than an open kayak. As long as you add a spray skirt or comb to them, they would keep you warm and prevent water splashing. As you can probably guess, Perception Sounds measures 10 feet and 6 inches long. In budget kayaks, you won’t find a more durable construction than this high-density roto-molded polyethylene one.
The storage compartment does not have a dedicated dry storage compartment. There is, however, a bow area where you can store some gear. If you are going on a camping tour, however, you can use the bungee-secured area in the rear end to store a crate or a small tent. You can also secure some of your items with a cord on its small dashboard.
Despite not being specifically designed for fishing, Perception Sound does come with two rod holders. They are located just on each side of your seat. There are, however, square areas in the front that can be used to attach Scotty mounts. Mounts like these can be used to attach accessories like cup holders, rod holders, and fish finders.
As far as performance goes, the trihull design ensures stability in water. A sit-in kayak’s low center of gravity further enhances this benefit. A kayak with a streamlined design is also relatively fast since it cuts through the water easily.

There are many budget kayaks made by Ocean Kayak, but their attractive color combinations are what I like most. Their eye-catching design makes them appealing to the eye. The bright colors of kayaks make them visible from a distance, which is a good safety feature. There are two seats in the Malibu Two, which measures 12 feet long and 34 inches wide. Generally, budget kayaks are constructed of high-density polyethylene and this one has that as well. In addition to making it lightweight, this construction also makes it corrosion-resistant and impact-resistant.
A variety of water conditions can be handled by its wide cockpit and tri-form hull design. Most of the time, I’ve used it in oceans and lakes without any problems. Kayaking in this kayak can be done in tandem or solo, since it performs even better solo. Its spacious cockpit makes it easy to get in and out for anyone, whether they’re beginners or seniors. This chair offers more comfort and convenience than ever before, with four-way adjustability and grooved footrests. Due to their good padding, the seats make fishing and kayaking comfortable.

There are multiple footrest positions available on the FK184 from Brooklyn Kayak Company, a nine-foot kayak with a comfortable seat back. The kayak features two paddle parks on either gunwale. For fishing, these parks provide you with an elastic bungee cord to secure your paddle when your hands are free.
When empty, it weighs just 44 pounds, making it a relatively lightweight fishing kayak. The bow, stern, and gunwales are also equipped with carry handles for ease of transportation. A maximum weight capacity of 330 pounds and a width of 34 inches are the features of the FK184. In addition to the flush mounting rod holders, the kayak also comes with a pivoting rod holder for convenience.

6. Emotion Stealth Angler Fishing Kayak, Sandstone, 11′
Specification
- Item Weight: 58 Pounds
- Material: Plastic
- Brand: Emotion Kayaks
- Weight Limit: 300 Pounds
- Color: Sandstone
Entry-level and intermediate fishing kayaks are distinguished by a non-official price mark of fishing kayak under $500. This is the right price point for our next pick, so we can expect a good balance of value and cost. With a high-density polyethylene construction, the Emotion Stealth fishing kayak is durable and sturdy. The kayak was built using blow-molding, which means that it does not have a uniform thickness throughout. If the manufacturer addresses this issue and makes any necessary corrections, we have a kayak that will last for some time.
It’s hard not to admire the thoughtfulness of design in this 11-foot kayak. Despite having a lot of storage space onboard, you feel that the cockpit is spacious. Stealth comes in a variety of colors, but I particularly like the Sandstone, which has a matte finish, but stands out because of its understated look and relatively uncommon color.
The front end has a bungee cord-secured open space for storage. Your camping gear can be stowed here and secured by a bungee cord. We have a hatch in the cockpit that stores stuff in the hull, but you can add a basket to make it more useful. We have a mesh-secured area and an open area in the back where you can place a crate or cooler.
Stability is one of its best features from a performance perspective. With its wide cockpit at 30 inches, I would say it is stable enough to stand and gives another dimension to your fishing. It does not have much of a rocker, so it is not suitable for rivers or oceans. However, it does track well with its easy-roll skeg.
Kayaks can be easily moved to and from the water with this easy-roll skeg. The boat also has grab handles, one at the bow, one at the stern, and one on each side. It may weigh 59 pounds, but, as mentioned, easy-roll skegs make transportation easy and you won’t need to carry it in and out of the water.
You’ll love the fact that Emotion Stealth comes with two flush-mounted rod holders behind each seat as well as a swivel rod holder in the cockpit. Considering that this kayak can only be used on slow-moving rivers and ponds, these options should give you a good fishing day.
Emotion Stealth’s seat doesn’t appeal to me much. It does not have much padding and can make it difficult for you to spend long periods of time fishing. Multiple grooved footrests improve the comfort side of things, however.
I would say that the Emotion Stealth 11′ is good enough to serve as your go-to fishing kayak for ponds and bays. With its wide cook and flat hull, it is one of the best fishing kayaks for standing up. The seat could have been better, and the speed could have been higher, but it still ticks more boxes than not.
Features
- Transport is made easier with four comfortable carry handles
- Ultra-stable and great tracking are provided by the hull design.
- Two flush mount rod holders and one deck mount rod holder make up the Triple Threat fishing configuration.
- Additional storage beneath the deck is provided by the Solace hatch.
- Quick-release seat attachments and an adjustable padded seat back for comfort
7. Vanhunks Voyager Deluxe Kayak 12ft
Specification
- Material: Plastic
- Style: Sit on Top Tandem Kayak
- Brand: Vanhunks
- Seating Capacity: 2
- Color: Blue/Black/White
The Vanhunks Voyager Deluxe Kayak is a 12-foot SOT kayak that is designed to provide enough space for two adults, as well as one child, to enjoy a paddle.
There is more to it than that, right? As the maximum weight limit of the vessel is pretty high at 551 pounds, it makes organizing your luggage and heavy fishing gear easier while on a trip, and there is a lot of room inside to make it easier to get in and out.
In our opinion, the Vanhunks Voyager Deluxe Kayak falls short of being as appealing as the other models on our list due to its wide width of 81 inches, which makes it difficult to store or transport compared to the other models.
Features
- This package includes: X2 paddles (aluminum 2 piece with three position adjustments), X2 deluxe aluminum seats, X2 fishing rod holders with swivels, X2 storage hatches
- With the Voyager deluxe family tandem kayak, you have enough room for 2 adults, 1 child or extra luggage.
- The dimensions are 370cm/12ft, 81cm/32inches, 37cm/15inches, 35kg/77lbs, and the maximum weight capacity is 250kg/551lbs.
- It’s made from high quality, 5mm thick material that makes it UV resistant, impact resistant, and extremely durable.
- A lifetime warranty is offered on the kayak hull, and a 12-month factory warranty on all other components and parts.
8. Lifetime Tamarack Angler 100 Fishing Kayak
Specification
- Seating Capacity: 1
- Brand: Lifetime
- Color: Tan
- Material: Hard Shell
- Item Weight: 56.5 Pounds
- Style: Tamarack Angler With Paddle
The best thing about Lifetime Products is their affordability. With regards to Tamarack, its price suggests that it has more to offer than it does. According to the time of year you get it, it costs around $400-500. You won’t be disappointed in any meaningful areas, however. As for the construction, it is made from high-density polyethylene with reinforcements that make it UV resistant. Due to its blow-molding process, it has a higher level of rigidity and impact resistance. There is no doubt that this kayak will serve you well for many years to come.
Despite its 10-foot length, Tamarack can be considered a short kayak. The advantage of short kayaks is that they are maneuverable. There is, however, a tendency for short kayaks to be unstable. It has a flat hull, making it more stable, but at the same time making it unsuitable to sail over ocean waves. A skeg integrated into the boat improves tracking. Although its speed is not its strong suit, it has a sharp bow that gives it some momentum. On the side of this kayak, we can see a swivel rod holder, which makes it ideal for fishing. In addition, there are flush-mounted rod holders on both sides of the back. A fish finder or transducer, however, will require some adjustments if you want to add them.
There is one area in which Tamarack 100 needs improvement: its seat. In spite of its back and bottom support, it lacks padding, making it one of the least comfortable kayak seats on the market. Nevertheless, you can add a cushion to make it more comfortable. Grooved footrests enhance the comfort of this chair.
There are bungee-secured areas where you can put your camping gear on the front and back of this kayak. The stern hatch measures 6-inches, while the cockpit hatch is 6-inches. A hull is equipped with a number of hatches along the length, but none of them have dry bags. Therefore, they need to be equipped with dry bags to be more useful. This is pretty much all the storage you’ll find in the cockpit, except for a bottle holder. It can carry 275 pounds, which is a good weight capacity for a solo kayak.
In terms of budget-friendly kayaks for fishing, the Tamarack Angler 100 is a strong contender. There is something to admire about its solid construction. It is versatile and convenient as well as having plenty of storage options. Besides its good performance and great maneuverability, it has a fishing ability that makes it a good choice.

10. Sea Eagle 3 Person Inflatable Portable Sport Kayak Canoe w/Paddles
Specification
- Material: Synthetic
- Style: Pro: White
- Item Weight: 44.25 Pounds
- Brand: Sea Eagle
- Seating Capacity: 3
- Color: White/Blue
With its class-leading features, Sea Eagle has made a name for itself in a short time. The Sea Eagle 370 Pro is one of the company’s best-selling kayaks due to its value. The first thing that stands out about this kayak is its construction. A hard-shell kayak would envy it. Its construction is uniform throughout due to its use of 38 mm PolyKrylar, which is K80 PVC. The material is also resistant to saltwater and sun, which makes it appropriate for a wide range of water conditions. Class III whitewater ratings are provided by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) for the Sea Eagle 370 Pro.
There is some truth to Sea Eagle’s claim that it can carry three people as it can transport two adults and a child or a pet, but not three adults. At 650 pounds, however, it is capable of supporting quite heavy individuals and would be able to accommodate camping and fishing gear as well. You can store some of your water-sensitive gear under the sprayskirts, even though it does not have any dedicated storage areas. Sea Eagle 370 Pro has five one-way valves that ensure quick inflation. Using the foot pedal that comes with this kayak, you can set it up in about 10 minutes. It is possible to accelerate by employing another person or by using an electric pump.
There are three air chambers in the Sea Eagle 370 Pro, each of which is inflated independently. If one chamber is punctured, you will still be able to get ashore thanks to this safety feature. You have pressure gauges for side chambers to ensure you don’t overinflate or underinflate. Despite that, there is no gauge on the floor, so you will need to use your best judgment. It has two plastic rear skegs that improve tracking from a performance perspective. There is an I-beam floor made of five tubes, which provides stability and rigidity. As a result of its length and large air chambers, Sea Eagle 370 Pro performs poorly in windy conditions.
Its seats are very comfortable on the comfort front. It comes with two inflatable seats that provide good back support and bottom support. You can put your cell phone or even a snack in the pockets on the back of these seats.

How to Choose the best fishing kayak under $700?
We categorize all of the products listed above according to their quality, durability, and pricing. However, because you are a user, you think about and analyze things based on your preferences. As a result, here are some helpful hints for you. If you are able to closely adhere to these ideas before purchasing the best fishing kayak under 700, you will be successful. We really believe that you can make money if you put your money in the appropriate place.
1. Solo or tandem
Are you perplexed about which sort of kayak is the finest for fishing? Solo kayaks are designed to provide comfort for a single person while fishing or participating in water sports. The best tandem fishing kayak, on the other hand, provides an excellent opportunity to enjoy a fishing or kayaking vacation with the most compatible companion. If you would like to enjoy your trip entirely by yourself, we offer a solitary kayaking excursion. And for those who enjoy having a friend when kayaking, a tandem kayak is an excellent choice.
2. Inflatable vs Hard-shell Kayaks
After you’ve returned from your multi-day vacation of water recreation, you’ll need to put the kayak back where it belongs. As a result, it’s critical to consider how much space you have available for this. If you live in an urban area and are plagued by the banality of having little storage space, an inflatable kayak that is lightweight and compact will be ideal for you.
Aside from that, inflatable kayaks may be folded up into a small, portable package that can be stowed with relative ease. If, on the other hand, you have a garage where you can actually store your kayak, a hardshell kayak might be the best option for you. Normally, the greatest fishing kayaks under 700 dollars are inflatable models, but this list includes a hardshell model that costs less than $700 dollars as well.
Further, you’ll want to think about portability, which is how you’ll transport the kayak from the vehicle to the shore and back again on a regular basis. Then you’ll want something that is lightweight, which means inflatable or origami kayaks are the best options. Best Foldable Kayaks may perhaps be of interest if you fall into this category as well.
3. Length
When purchasing a kayak, it is important to remember that the longer the kayak, the greater its speed and tracking capability. It is highly dependent on your requirements. Are you exaggerating your feelings? Do you want to go fishing or take a trip to a nearby island? Then you select a kayak that is the perfect length for you. A short-length kayak, on the other hand, is appropriate if you wish to end your adventure after only a brief period of time. Kayaks are available in a variety of lengths, ranging from 6 feet to 14 feet. As a result, choose the kayak length that best suits your needs.
4. Width
Another important consideration is the width of the kayak. You’ll need a larger kayak if you want to get in and out swiftly. Furthermore, a kayak with a bigger diameter allows for a more open cockpit. When you purchase a complete kayak, you will receive an additional storage space. A broader kayak, on the other hand, is responsible for increasing the drag. As a result, you’ve lost a little bit of speed.
5. Functional Storage
In general, larger storage capacities are required for kayaks, whether you’re transporting a large amount of fishing equipment or taking part in multi-day kayaking excursions. However, while some kayaks are equipped with large storage compartments, others are equipped with extremely small ones that you do not want to end up with. Furthermore, many high-quality kayaks are equipped with sealed, watertight storage compartments that keep your belongings completely dry. The importance of this cannot be overstated, especially if you are transporting clothing and sleeping bags.
6. Sit inside or sit on top
Based on the needs of the users, sitting inside and sit on top of kayaks are both very popular options. However, you must first determine what you should get. In general, the sit-on-top kayak offers better stability than the traditional kayak. At the same time, the straightforward design of the sit-on-top will provide you with greater freedom when fishing.
Sitting inside a kayak, on the other hand, is a little less steady. However, make certain that these will keep you dry and protected from the water. Many anglers would prefer to be able to stay dry while fishing. That’s why they decided on a sit-inside kayak for their adventure.
7. Add-ons
Deck mounts, cup holders, carry handles, and anchor systems are just a few of the few optional features that each kayak offers in its own way. Bonus features are always a nice trait to seek ”in a kayak, even if they are not as important. Adding carry handles to your kayak, for example, makes carrying it much more convenient.
Consider the difficulty of pulling a hefty kayak along the shoreline with no handle to hold onto. In a way, a carry handle is an example of what a kayak add-on may accomplish to improve the overall utility of the kayak by increasing its carrying capacity.
8. Transportation
When considering a trip to a remote fishing location, kayak transportation becomes a necessity. In this scenario, you should pay attention to the weight of the kayak roller cart as well as the carrying handles. The first and most important factor is the amount of pressure applied. Because it has a huge impact when you would like to travel for a long-distance fishing or kayaking trip, secondly, take note of the handles on the boat. It should be equipped with a convenient carrying handle. Roller carts will make it easier for you to carry goods in remote areas.
8. Safety Issues for kayak fishing
Kayaking is a popular sport, but many people are concerned about their safety. Kayaks are built with safety in mind, despite their construction. It is also possible and likely that accidents will occur. To help novice and experienced anglers achieve the highest level of safety, here are some of the most important considerations.
- Prior to going fishing, it is preferable to be aware of the weather conditions.
- Avoid being exposed to inclement weather and high water levels.
- Keep your kayak from being overloaded with unneeded equipment.
- Before you embark on your kayak fishing expedition, conduct some preliminary research.
Frequently asked questions related to the best fishing kayak under $700
Is a longer or shorter kayak better?
The longer the kayak is, the faster it is when compared to two identically styled and designed kayaks with same width.
When utilising a long kayak for the first time, beginners may discover that it is not as stable as they had anticipated.
