Anglers and peddlers will find it particularly useful. A sit-on-top kayak can be used both as a kayak and as a boat. So, you get two products for the price of one. The kayak’s performance and stability make fishing very easy, in addition to adding comfort to the process.

You can enjoy fishing during your spare time with this kayak because of its easy handling and many other features. Additionally, this product is lightweight and has an easily removable paddle drive system.

In comparison to other expensive and high-efficiency kayaks, these kayaks are cost-effective and amazing to use. The amount you need to collect is not specific. This prevents other traditional kayaks as well as some new kayak models from entering the market.

Long distances in water are no problem for this kayak. As a result of their insulation covering, water, snow, and other chemicals or rays cannot easily damage them. Also, it has two levels of seat adjustment, so it can be used in a variety of environments depending on the level of the water. Furthermore, you can mount other accessories using gear tracks and rod holders.

7. Sea Eagle 385fta Fasttrack Inflatable Kayak Pro Angler Package

Specification

  • Brand: Sea Eagle
  • Item Weight: 45 Pounds
  • Item Package Dimensions L x W x H: 45 x 23 x 12 inches

Sea Eagle’s 385fta FastTrack Angler is the latest release from its workshop. With the FastTrack Angler, you will never be out of place. Versatility is the key word in modern kayak design.

There is something mad genius about the boat. It looks like a canoe, doesn’t it? Does it look like a SUP? Kayak, maybe? The skiff? Yes, that’s right!

An open cockpit like that of a canoe can be found on the FastTrack. In addition, because the boat’s gunnels are low, a kayak paddle can be used to paddle it. Featuring a wide, open deck with drop stitching, FastTrack is one of the best standup paddleboards out there. In fact, it can be converted into a tandem by adding a second seat.

A 12-volt battery and trolling motor are optionally available on Hoge’s motor bracket. The only electric motors available are worth thousands, says Hoge, while pointing out the trolling motor he bought for a few hundred dollars at a local box store.

Does it work? That’s the only question. Yes, the answer is again yes. Two boxes were delivered to the Kayak Angler office with the FastTrack Angler. All the components of the boat, paddle, pump, and seat frame can be carried in the carry case. It travels separately from the swivel seat.

With plenty of room in the carry case and a ready-to-inflate boat, the boat is easy to transport and store. Air chambers need to be pumped up when using an inflatable. Upon both push and pull, Sea Eagle’s twin-action pump inflates at high speeds.

Three air chambers are present in the FastTrack: two low-pressure gunnels and a drop stitch floor. Air pressure and rigidity are increased by thousands of threads running between the top and bottom layers of the drop stitch technology.

By inflating the floor to 10 psi, the boat takes less time and effort to inflate than other inflatable boats. Inflation of the gunnels occurs in a few minutes at a pressure of three pounds per square inch. On its own, the FastTrack Angler would make a great kayak or SUP for grab-and-go trips.

The boat weighs only 45 pounds without the seat. An inflatable boat is one of my favorite things to take advantage of. FastTrack Angler bounces off whatever I throw at it, be it across the yard, in the truck, or dropped on the ground.

Features

  • The exterior measures 12’6″ x 36″ / The interior measures 11’7″ x 18″ / Deflatable: 36″ x 15″ x 20″

Jargon Buster

Choosing the best recreational kayak for your casual use can be complicated enough when you’re only concerned with kayak terminology. For the rest of this article, you will find more detailed terms concerning fishing kayaks and motors.

1. Trolling Motor

Fishing boats often have trolling motors, which are powered by 12-volt marine batteries. Instead of paddling to a new fishing hole, you can attach the smallest and lightest versions of these motors to your kayak.

3. Thrust

Thrust is simply the amount of power that a motor has. If your stand-up fishing kayak is loaded with 100 pounds, your thrust needs to be about two pounds per 100 pound.

2. Motor Mount

Motor mounts attach to the stern of kayaks and provide power to the motor. In addition, it provides a more stable platform for securing trolling motors to kayaks, but it isn’t required for all kayaks to install trolling motors properly.

How To Choose The Best Fishing Kayak With Trolling Motor?

In order to compare these choices, let’s go over some important criteria to consider before determining which is the best stand-up the fishing kayak with the motor.

With the help of our Buying Guide, you can make a more informed decision and choose the kayak that best meets your requirements.

1. Width

Fishing kayaks’ width determines how stable they are on the water. There is no doubt that the width of a kayak is the most important aspect when it comes to standing and fishing from a kayak.

Kayaks with wide designs are generally more stable than those with narrow designs. You can maintain balance better while casting and reeling out of the kayak when it becomes wider so that you can spread your weight over more surface area of water.

2. Hull Design

The shape and design of the kayak’s hull also play a crucial role in its stability, even though the width is the most important factor. High-speed kayaks with deep, V-shaped hulls are better suited for straight tracking.

The flatter the hull of the kayak, the more maneuverability and stability it has. When it comes to stand-up fishing from your kayak, the latter is always going to be preferable.

3. Trolling Motor’s Specifications

Trolling motor specifications are also important to consider when choosing a trolling motor for your kayak. In order to determine the motor’s power, we must first observe its specifications.

The thrust of a trolling motor is mainly what you should consider when analyzing its power. When you load your kayak with 50 pounds of bodyweight and gear, you will need one pound of thrust.

The shaft length of the motor is another specification to consider. As you consider the average depth of the water at your favorite fishing spots, this will tell you how far the prop will submerge into the water.

If you regularly fish in water 24 inches deep or less, a 36-inch shaft length will quickly become obsolete. Once your motor is mounted to the stern of your kayak, an adequate shaft length will submerge the propeller at least 12 inches underwater.

We want to mention one more specification for trolling motors: the recommended battery connection.

It’s generally necessary to use a 12-volt marine or deep cycle battery in order to power your motor. However, you should also know where it is possible to mount your motor on your kayak.

4. Storage Space

We’ll mention storage space as quick consideration. In order to spend quality time on the water, kayak anglers have a lot of gear with them.

The only thing you’ll have to do is to determine how much gear you’re going to need for kayak fishing and then ensure that you have enough room to store it on your new kayak. A kayak should also have bungee deck rigging, so if you have extra gear that you can’t fit into the open or closed storage compartments, you can attach it to the top of the kayak.

5. Built-in trolling motors

The number of fishing kayaks that come equipped with trolling motors is currently limited.

In addition to the trolling motor that comes with some of the models, there are some aftermarket trolling motors available. There is very limited compatibility between these motors and the models they are designed for.

Integrated trolling motors have the biggest advantage of being plug-and-play. It’s easy to install the trolling motor. The moment you latch it down, that’s all it takes to get started.

Integrated trolling motors have the disadvantage of being expensive. Since these motors are designed for specific kayak models, they are limited in sales. This kayak model also has the disadvantage of having a protruding motor and battery pack in the cockpit.

6. Aftermarket trolling motors

Kayaks can also be outfitted with aftermarket trolling motors mounted to the bow and stern.

A motor mount bracket can be purchased from many manufacturers. Other brands sell trolling motors specifically designed to fit their kayak models, which are also available for sale.

Kayak accessory brands offer more universal mounting brackets if your kayak brand does not offer these items. Another option is to build your own setup from scratch.

Installing an aftermarket trolling motor involves some steps, and some brands do not have integrated features that third-party manufacturers do.

Taking on a DIY project requires caution regarding how the motor is mounted and the battery is stored. Taking on these projects can be challenging, so talk to an angler who has done it before.

7. Batteries

Battery packs are typically sold separately when buying fishing kayaks with trolling motors. The battery box for a kayak with an integrated motor is typically stored under the seat, while the battery box and wiring for an aftermarket motor have to be figured out separately. Marine batteries like lithium-ion or deep-cycle lead-acid are commonly used with trolling motors.

8. Advanced features

Remote steering and GPS functionality are features available on some trolling motors for fishing kayaks.

A kayak trolling motor uses GPS to lock its position, which is one way GPS is used with kayaks. There has never been anything like this. If you find a good fishing hole, you can drop your metaphorical anchor and let the trolling motor keep you afloat. You will no longer have to claw your way out of a headwind to cast again.

9. Boating regulations

The local boating regulations should be taken into consideration when purchasing a trolling motor fishing kayak. In addition to having to register your kayak, you may also have to follow other boating laws once you motorize it.

Make sure you are familiar with the waterways you’ll be fishing before you make any purchases.

10. Price

Another important factor to consider is Kayak’s price. There is a general rule that the better the product, the higher the price. Some of the products above, however, don’t have premium features but are not of many prices.

Quality is what matters, so that’s what matters. If you wish to save money, we recommend compromising on the rate. You should consider the high price fishing kayak if you have more money and can afford it.

11. Seat Design

Our goal here is to provide you with a thorough overview of the seat design for a fishing kayak with a trolling motor. In contrast to traditional kayaks where people get tired after work, motorized fishing kayaks have a serene seat. Knowing that there are still different kinds of seat designs depending on their color, weight, and placement would help shock you.

12. Removable Vs Permanent Seat

Kayak seats can be removed or replaced on some models. Due to their benefits, each of these has its advantages. The removable seats, however, are more valuable as they can be fitted with a heart that is the perfect size to add extra storage.

A more relaxed seat can also be installed in the summer to make your job easier and more comfortable. For those who tend to avoid extra work, it could be a negative factor.

There is no need to worry about the movement of permanent sears because they are fixed to the kayaks and are perfect for mounting. If you can’t afford to replace the seats, these are a perfect choice. As well as being more affordable, permanent seats are easier to handle.

13. Seat Position

A kayak may have more than one seat position, or it may have just one. You are more comfortable sitting and working in a place where there are a variety of places to sit. In order to catch more fish, it helps to change directions quickly when you feel that it would be beneficial to work in that direction.

In addition, there is the option to select the right type of seat from the single-position seat. A kayak may have one in the center or on its reclining side, for example. There is a greater ease of use with a reclined seat than with one that is centrally located and straight.

Benefits of Best Trolling Motor Fishing Kayaks

In this article, we’ll highlight how important fishing kayaks with trolling motors are to our everyday lives.

1. Speed

Due to their high maneuverability, fishing kayaks with motors have a better speed than traditional kayaks. Due to this, conventional kayaks take up more time and effort handling and running than fishing kayaks, so you can perform more work.

A kayak can reach a speed of 5 MPH, which is more than any other kayak can reach. Make the most of your time and money by purchasing these highest-speed kayaks.

2. Less Fatigue

You are doing a very laborious job with kayaking on rivers and other places, and you are eventually tired. It is painful, especially for fishermen who have made fishing their main source of income.

If you suffer from arm and body pains regularly, you are not alone. Consequently, you are unable to work the following morning since your shoulders are sore.

This problem has been solved by motorized kayaks. You shouldn’t have to worry about the painful day anymore. The accessories and the additional features of these kayaks make them comfortable to use. The moveable motor is not the only reason for the seat and handle to move.

Fishing can be accomplished in seconds with these motorized kayaks. Furthermore, you can now earn more due productivity by fishing as your primary occupation.

3. Trolling

Fishing kayaks also come with trolling motors as a benefit. It is not possible for fish to be disturbed by the noise produced by an electric kayak with a trolling motor. Catching more fish is the ultimate goal. A trolling motor also offers outstanding performance and has more features than a regular kayak.

You can change the location quickly with the trolling motor’s quick movement. Using this finding, they are able to move to a new location very easily before relocating to another location.

Frequently Asked Questions

Making the right choice when it comes to kayak motors is not a simple task. There are many factors to consider, including your budget, frequency of use, type of fishing, and what you plan to do with it.

The process of fishing kayaking can be made easier with the help of motors for fishing kayaks. Choosing a gas-powered motor, for instance, will require no fuel, since gas and propane are the fuel sources.

An electric trolling motor may be better suited to your needs if you are looking for something more economical. These two options will be discussed in detail in the upcoming FAQ section as well as other important factors to consider when choosing a fishing kayak motor.

Do I need to register my kayak with a trolling motor?

It is not mandatory to register vessels operating on public waters in every state, but most states require it. You can register a motorized kayak with a trolling motor with the USCG by checking the boating requirements in your area.

It is generally recommended that you fill out and sign CG-1230 (Form CG-1230) if you:

1. An electric trolling motor, for example, is used instead of oars or paddles as a propulsion power source. Auxiliary engines should take into account all power sources, including batteries used to drive impellers or screws that are attached directly to the main engine’s drive shaft.
2. The boat you want to operate contains no fishing license and you are 16 years old.
3. You may operate your boat with only one motor if you are 15 years of age or younger, but you must be supervised by an adult while operating the boat (onboard or ashore).

How fast can a kayak go with a trolling motor?

As long as you have a good 140-pound thrust trolling motor and battery, you can travel between two and three miles per hour with a good trolling motor.

Kayaks will move at a different speed depending on the type of engine and the length of the boat. Having a longer boat will let you go faster since the water has more surface area to push against in the back. The Hobie Mirage Adventurer 13 Fishing Kayak is an electric option if you want a really quick ride through the water.

Are kayaks with trolling motors required to be registered in Florida?

Electric trolling motors are not required to be registered in Florida.
A boat powered by an electric trolling motor does not require a fishing license from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. There are, however, regulations in Chapter 327, Part IV, Subsection 328.405(11) that require all boaters to obey when fishing from vessels without motors within 200 yards of the shore or in inland waters of a state park or wildlife management area that has an established fishery.
The following information should be included:

Type I – A number or name assigned to an engine.

Type II – A horsepower rating used to determine whether or not this type meets the criteria is measured using the rate per hour.

How much is a jet powered kayak?

Jet-powered kayaks usually cost about $700.
You may not want to purchase a jet-powered kayak because of its cost, but you need to take into consideration the number of people you are going to be taking out in the boat or fishing at once. You probably shouldn’t spend this much on equipment if you’ll be going alone; if you’re taking multiple passengers, it’ll make more sense to spend this much on equipment.

Kayaks are available in many different types, so you need to choose one that suits your needs. Motorized fishing kayaks are available in many types, including inflatables and hard-sided hulls. A jet-powered fishing boat is not cheap, so you should set aside a budget for how much you want to spend. Based on the size and features of each model, you can expect to pay between $300 and $5000.

Are kayak motors any good?

In terms of handling waves, motorized kayaks do not compare to traditional kayaks.
Motorized kayaks seem to be on the rise, and you may be wondering why. The main reason for their popularity is that they make the fishing process much easier than paddling or rowing, especially if you suffer from back problems as I do.

Furthermore, fishing trips can run faster when you’re trying to arrive at a specific spot by a certain time (especially if you need to get back before sunset), making them more enjoyable. In addition to trolling, they allow fishermen to catch their prey much more quickly!

Can you drill the hull on a kayak to install an engine mount?

There is no need to worry about it, but it is not advisable to do so. From repetitive propeller movement or hitting rocks while trolling, drilling can weaken composite laminates and result in cracks.

It would be easier to purchase a pre-built motorized kayak that already has holes drilled out for easy installation at the time of installation or purchase adapters to accommodate larger motors under existing mounts.

How to choose the best fishing kayak with an electric motor in 2021?

You should consider these factors before purchasing a fishing kayak powered by an electric motor:

Budget: Make sure your budget doesn’t exceed your expectations. When you’re on a tight budget, you’re probably better off avoiding these motors altogether. If you’re looking for a fishing boat that is cheaper and is easy to carry, an inflatable kayak is always an excellent choice.

Its length: Longer boats are generally difficult to handle when the water becomes rough or choppy, as opposed to shorter boats, which remain stable under difficult conditions.
