China’s Apple Store Online is down in advance of this weekend’s iPhone discounts

The Apple Store Online is now unavailable in China as Apple prepares for a large wave of iPhone discounts that will take place this weekend in the nation. This week, Apple announced that it would be offering discounts on its various iPhone models, as well as the Apple Watch and AirPods.

As Apple prepares to unveil new products or make substantial changes, the company frequently shuts its online shop. For the most part, it’s done this way to get customers excited. A similar trend is seen in China today, as Apple tries to build momentum ahead of the product reductions going live on July 29 at local time in the country.

iPhone 13 Pro models will be discounted by up to 600 yuan ($89). In addition, discounts will be offered on various iPhone models, some Apple Watch models, and a variety of other products and accessories. A “Summer Shopping Event” has been dubbed by Apple.

This kind of event is far more common in China than in the rest of the world. Apple doesn’t often participate in these types of promotions, but this one gives the corporation a chance to boost iPhone sales amid economic concerns and before the release of the iPhone 14 this fall.

Customers in China will have to use one of Apple’s supported payment methods, such as Alipay, or one of several other alternative and financing options.

A number of discounted Apple products will be on sale in China from July 29 to August 1 at local time.
