A few days before the new iPhone 14 models from Apple are anticipated to start shipping to customers, a new video has provided our first glimpse inside the iPhone 14 Pro Max. It reveals an L-shaped battery, improved positions for display components, larger cameras, and more.

The early breakdown, carried out by PBKnreviews, reveals an interior layout that resembles that of the iPhone 13 Pro Max from the previous year, but with a few modifications. The battery in this year’s iPhone 14 Pro Max is L-shaped, just like last year’s model, but it is a little bit smaller.

Apple claims that in order to better regulate heat, it has updated the internal designs of all variants of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro. The primary motherboard is covered by a metal plate that may have been better designed to disperse heat, but this teardown makes no clear mention of such alterations. As seen in today’s breakdown, the display’s back has a graphite coating that reduces heat.

The breakdown also allows us to get a better look at the new notch replacement, which consists of pill-and hole-shaped cutouts that were digitally combined to create the Dynamic Island within iOS. For the first time on an iPhone, Apple has positioned the proximity sensor below the display to make room for the TrueDepth camera system and get rid of the notch in favor of the pill-shaped cutout that was digitally produced instead.

The proximity sensor, which recognizes when the phone is flat on a table, in your pocket, or being held while on a call, was previously placed in the notch along with Face ID’s componentry on earlier iPhones.

The deconstruction also provides a closer look at the earpiece and improved back cameras. After the handsets start shipping to customers, iFixit is anticipated to finish a more thorough teardown of all models of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro. The deconstruction by iFixit will provide a more thorough knowledge of the internal changes made to the most recent iPhones.
