1. Take a medium-sized paper clip and straighten one side.

2. Insert the clip tip into the hole corresponding to the SIM Slot compartment on your iPhone. Then, place the tip into the hole corresponding to the hole of that compartment and gently push.

3. Once you have opened the tray, it will be slightly tilted. The tray should now be easily removed from the slot.

4. In the meantime, insert a SIM into the slot in the same direction you removed it from.

The long end of a paper clip should extend outside the paper (see the picture above) if you’re using one. In the event, you choose to use something else, such as the tip of a small screwdriver, make sure that it fits inside the SIM ejector slot. If you do not, the device may be damaged.

  • Apple iPad 2/3/4: On the left side of the iPad, near the top, opposite the volume buttons and the mute switch.
  • (Front Right): On the same side as the volume buttons and mute switch, on the bottom right corner of the iPad Pro/Air/Air2/mini (all generations).

How do I remove the SIM card from my iPad?

1. Put the small paperclip that you bent earlier into the small pinhole opening of the SIM tray and gently push it into place.

2. If you want to remove the SIM tray from the iPhone or iPad, you will have to apply a small amount of pressure. Don’t apply pressure at an angle; only press in the direction of the pinhole and at the right angle.

3. Pull straight out the SIM tray by holding on to it and pulling it straight out.

4. It is recommended that you switch your SIM card. By aligning the notched corners on the card with the right orientation, you will be able to ensure that you have installed the SIM in the correct direction.

5. Replacing the tray is as simple as re-inserting it. Be sure to insert the SIM tray in the correct direction before you replace it.

Please note:  You will need to place both SIM cards on either side of the SIM tray if you are using an iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, or iPhone XR from mainland China with dual nano-SIMs. The cards should only fit one way in the SIM tray.

It is important to remember that you should never force a SIM tray back into place. It is possible that you can break pins on your logic board, and your iPad or iPhone may not be able to connect to any cellular network.
