iPadOS 15.6 Release Candidate beta has been released by Apple as well as tvOS 15.6

Apple has provided the Release Candidate releases of iOS 15.6, iPadOS 15.6, tvOS 15.6, and watchOS 8.7 to its developer testers. These builds can now be downloaded from the Apple developer website.

The new operating system builds can be downloaded via the Apple Developer Center by people who have signed up for the test program, or they can be updated wirelessly on devices running the beta software. Within a few days of the developer’s release, the public betas can be found on the Apple Beta Software Program website.

The fifth betas were released on July 5, coming after the fourth betas, which were distributed on June 28, and the third betas, which were released on June 14. On May 31, the first beta version became available.

The 19G69 build number replaces the 19G5063a build number for iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6. The fifth tvOS 15.6 build, 19M5062a, has been updated to 19M6063, which is the sixth tvOS 15.6 build. Last but not least, 19U66, the sixth watchOS 8.7 beta build, replaces 19U5063a.

Instead of introducing new features, betas often focus on bug fixes and performance enhancements. A new feature in the soon-to-be released release betas seems unlikely because Apple is already testing versions of iOS 16, iPad OS 16, tvOS 16, and watchOS 9.

AppleInsider and Apple highly recommend that customers avoid installing beta software on “mission-critical” or primary devices, due to the very small risk of data loss or other difficulties. Instead, beta testers should install betas on non-essential devices and make sure that appropriate backups of crucial data are in place before updating.
