There are actually two cutouts in the physical display, despite the fact that it appears to have just one huge pill-shaped cutout in the display. According to a reliable source, Apple will combine the pill-shape and hole-punch cuts digitally to form a single, larger pill shape at the top of the display. According to reports, Apple intends to incorporate helpful information, such as iOS privacy alerts, in the space between the two physical holes, and a predicted redesign of the Camera app will enclose controls around the new cutout.

Since the iPhone X, every new flagship model has had a notch; the iPhone XS, iPhone 11, and iPhone 12 all have the same size notch. With the release of the iPhone 13, Apple reduced the size of the notch, and in the next few days, it’s anticipated that it will fully abandon the notch design. Apple is considering additional key new features for the high-end iPhone 14 models in addition to the pill-shaped notch replacement, such as an always-on display, a 48MP camera, longer battery life, and more.

The iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, and a whole new Apple Watch lineup are all expected to be unveiled by Apple at an event with the theme “Far Out” on September 7. Check out our guide for a detailed breakdown of everything we anticipate from Apple’s fall event.
