iPhone 14 release date has been revealed in a new Apple leak

Apple will introduce the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max on September 7. or so we believed.

News has surfaced that Apple will not issue an “iPhone 14 Max” in an unexpectedly late leak. The company will instead label its first 6.7-inch, sub-thousand dollar smartphone the “iPhone 14 Plus.” And for a variety of reasons, this makes sense.

“According to sources with knowledge of the situation, Apple has decided to call its next bigger iPhone the iPhone 14 Plus. Additionally, at least since July, manufacturers of iPhone cases have been prohibited from using the term “iPhone 14 Max” because it is not the genuine name of the product, according to a report.

So the flagship iPhone and the top-tier version of Apple’s M1 chipset are both called “Max,” Apple has continuously used the term to denote a premium version of something. It is noteworthy that “Max” comes after “Pro” in the M1 range: M1, M1 Pro, M1 Max, and M1 Ultra.

It would have been confusing to inform iPhone owners that while the M1 Pro has a lower price range than the M1 Max, the iPhone 14 Max has a higher price range than the iPhone 14 Pro.

In comparison, the branding for “Plus” is simpler. For four years, it was linked with the bigger (albeit not necessarily better) iPhone, and the iPhone 8 Plus debuted in 2017 behind the iPhone X, so it doesn’t have the same exclusive status as the Max. Overall, purchasers don’t have to perform the same mental gymnastics.

It’s interesting how this late branding leak fits with a larger trend of iPhone leaks in 2022, where more obscure leakers challenge more well-known ones and alter the narrative. With this in mind, Apple fans should be thrilled because the most recent evidence suggests that the price of the iPhone 14 will be significantly lower than anticipated.
