iPhone users can now use Snapchat’s double camera character

The unveiling of a new dual camera feature for Snapchat was announced by Snap today. This feature enables users to simultaneously record video or take images on their iPhones, utilizing the front and back cameras.

The camera toolbar provides access to the Dual Camera option, which may be used for Snaps, Stories, and Spotlight films. According to Snap, it allows users of Snapchat to “record amazing moments while being part of the memory.”

There are four different layouts available: picture-in-picture, cutout, horizontal, and vertical. While the image is divided vertically or horizontally in the previous two options, picture-in-picture superimposes a circular front-facing camera view on top of the back camera view. Snapchat uses a cutout from the front-facing camera to create the cutout view, which is then superimposed over the image from the back camera.

As of right now, Dual Camera is accessible to every iOS user. Free Snapchat downloads are available from the App Store.
