It has been reported that Apple has no intention of contesting a vote to unionize that was cast by employees at one of its retail stores in Maryland. Instead, Apple expects to bargain with workers at the store “in good faith.”

The Towson Town Center Apple Store employees became the first in the United States to hold a unionization referendum earlier in June.

A source familiar with Apple’s plans tells Reuters that the corporation intends to participate in the negotiations “in good faith” in the event of a vote to unionize its employees.

There is strong support from the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers for Apple Towson Town Center’s workers who have voted for unionization. However, they have yet to clarify their terms.

The Apple Store is not the first in the United States to file for a union. Apple Stores in New York and Atlanta, Georgia have already begun planning for 2022.

Apple has been accused of engaging in union-busting activities at its past retail sites, including the distribution of anti-union leaflets and the hiring of well-known union-busting layers. These allegations pertain to Apple’s actions at those locations.

Workers at the Atlanta store blamed intimidating tactics when they postponed a vote on unionisation in late May.

To get Apple to comply with the National Labor Relations Act, the Communications Workers of America (CWA), which backed union organizing drives in Atlanta and New York, filed complaints.

CUPERTINO’s HR and retail director, Deirdre O’Brien, said in May that unions may “fundamentally” damage the relationship between the company and its employees. O’Brien has pushed back against union initiatives. Apple also upped its retail beginning salary to $22 per hour in the same month, most likely in an effort to head off unionization efforts. same month.
