Music on Apple Music and the App Store on iOS were experiencing issues


If you’re an Apple user, you’ve probably noticed some issues with the App Store or Apple Music. At 11:41 ET on Monday, Apple’s system status page listed problems that have affected “all users” of both services, but didn’t go into detail about what exactly was wrong. In our tests, the App Store and Apple Music were both functional, but users reported issues for several hours before they were resolved.

Apple’s Privacy Labels weren’t showing up on many App Store listings, according to 9to5Mac, which cited a source who said it was a bug that would be fixed soon.

Apple Music users on Reddit have reported issues with missing lyric information, Dolby Atmos, and lossless audio from songs where those features should be present. Others have reported that they are unable to play music, even when it has been downloaded to their local storage for offline listening. Some users reported that logging in and logging out fixed the missing lossless audio features, but not the missing lyrics. We were able to verify the problem with the lyrics shown below.

Updates to Apple’s status page indicate that both issues have been resolved. Users may have experienced the issue between 4:15 AM and 12:02 PM if their time zone is set to the Pacific Time Zone, which may have matched the time of day that the issue occurred. As far as we know, the lyrics and privacy labels are working again, and we hope your downloaded songs are playing again.
