The public can now get tvOS 15.6 and HomePod software version 15.6 from Apple. Both updates include bug fixes.
tvOS 15.6 has been made available to the general public with bug fixes and upgrades that take place behind the scenes. Apple has not disclosed any information about any of the features that are accessible to the general public.
HomePod software version 15.6 adds Siri voice recognition for Mandarin, Cantonese, and Japanese. It also provides software and stability updates.
It is compatible with the Apple TV HD, as well as the first and second generations of the Apple TV 4K. This is standard for all iterations of tvOS 15.
After the understated announcement of tvOS 16 at WWDC 2022, substantial software updates are anticipated to be released later in the fall.
Apple released tvOS 15.5.1 earlier in the day on May 25 in an effort to address difficulties with the HomePod smart speaker. The HomePod and Apple TV devices have the same release and build number for the software, so an update was provided for the Apple TV as well despite the lack of new public-facing functionality.
